Our region ...

Not to be missed (20 minutes walk from our house) : the picturesque Booktown quarter in Montmorillon where you will find  about 20 booksellers and book-related workshops (calligraphers, book-binders, illuminators, ...). Some of them organize training courses which are a good opportunity to share their art and passion for these skills.

Listed "Land of Art and History" ( "Art et Histoire") on account of its rich historical heritage, the region of Montmorillon has a lot to offer to its visitors, ranging from religious monuments (the Frescoes Valley, the abbey at St Savin listed on the World Heritage list established by UNESCO, the 12th century Octogone in Montmorillon, the Romanesque Villesalem Priory) to private castles and other sights to discover :  Angles sur l'Anglin (one of the most beautiful villages in France),  the Merovingian cemetery of Civaux  ...

This sheep-breeding region is made of a variety of undulating green scenery where outdoor activities abound : cycling, walking on the various nature trails , but also canoeing, archery, climbing at the Centre de Plein Air de Lathus, swimming and spas.

Among other places of interest nearby (less than one hour drive), we can quote the Medieval town of Chauvigny (20 minutes drive), Poitiers (famous town for Romanesque Art ) but also the Futuroscope (European Park of moving image) and many more which are worth visiting.

Why not make the most of your holiday in the region by visiting the Loire Valley castles, the Brenne Natural Park (Parc naturel de la Brenne) and its thousand lakes,  le Marais Poitevin often called the "Green Venice" or the Atlantic Coast and its fine beaches ? So many prestigious touristic places that should not be missed and which are only a few hours drive !
